Dancing With the Stars Adds Savannah Bananas’ Jackson Olson — Baseball Cleats Meet Ballroom
Jackson Olson, second baseman for the Savannah Bananas and social media personality, is the third announced contestant on Dancing With the Stars Season 35. Full cast reveals on Sept. 2; DWTS and a new spinoff, The Next Pro, have upcoming premieres.
Dancing With the Stars is sliding into a new season with a roster that keeps getting more... unexpected. The show just announced its third celebrity contestant for Season 35: Jackson Olson, second baseman for the Savannah Bananas and a well-known internet personality.
Olson isn’t just snagging foul balls; he’s amassed a following for his baseball breakdowns, food-filled ballpark moments, and thoughtful takes on family and coming-of-age life. His social channels mix stats and storytelling, which should make for entertaining rehearsal clips — and a whole lot of snack commentary between dance steps.
He’ll join previously revealed contestants Maura Higgins (The Traitors, Love Island) and Ciara Miller (Summer House). ABC will unveil the full lineup of celebrities and professional partners on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Sept. 2, so expect more surprises headed to the dance floor.
Returning to guide — and judge — the glitter-and-correction brigade are co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, along with judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli. In other words: the familiar faces who can spot a missed beat from across the room are back.
DWTS is also expanding its universe: Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro premieres July 13, hosted by last season’s winner Robert Irwin. Twelve up-and-coming dancers will live together and vie for a coveted pro slot on the main show, with Mark Ballas and Shirley Ballas set to sit on the judging panel.
The main show will simulcast live on ABC and Disney+ this fall and stream next day on Hulu. So whether you’re tuning in for the choreography or curious to see if a second baseman can master a foxtrot, get your cleats and dancing shoes ready — someone’s about to try turning a double play into a double pirouette.
